Babylonstoren, South Africa

Ultimate farm heaven, deep in the heart of the beautiful Cape Winelands

One of the oldest Cape Dutch farms with great modern detailing, set at the foot of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek wine valley opens its gates to a piece of paradise.

As a heritage site Babylonstoren is one of the best preserved farmyards in the Cape Dutch tradition. Home to an exclusive farm hotel, a farm-to-table restaurant, greenhouse, bakery, lushy vineyards and orchards, a winery, a splendid spa and an organic food garden of great diversity with eight acres of fruits, vegetables and herbs, all edible or with medicinal value.

Owner Karen Roos has masterfully created this ultimate farm haven, where the luxury is in the integrity and authenticity of the setting. It’s a marriage of old and new, an ode to it’s provenance deep in the heart of the beautiful Cape Winelands.

Guests will stay in historic and renovated luxury workers' cottages, with traditional wood elements, fireplace, modern furniture and a fully equipped kitchen, where you can cook with your self harvested vegetables.

The farm has two restaurants, using freshly picked, seasonal products from the Garden. The Greenhouse cafe at the far end of the garden offers home-baked treats, fresh garden juices, artisanal breads with handcrafted cheeses as well as fresh garden salads and, of course, teas and coffees. The Babel restaurant serves healthy “from farm to fork”-dinners.

Over and over, Babylonstoren is and abundant space filled with wonders. Enjoy the big outdoor pool, spectacular views overlooking the majestic mountains from the sun terrace, gardening workshops, wine tastings. Explore the area by bike or have a hike in the vast fields and forests that surrounds this most special location.
